Sticker size first

The box on the chart decides the sticker, not the picture on the package. A sticker that is too big covers the box edge and makes the chart look messy. A sticker that is too small leaves a gap and feels like a letdown after a hard day.

Measure the box on your printed chart before you buy. Our charts use four sizes, and the table below shows what fits each one.

Every sticker pack listed here is checked against the boxes on our own charts. If it fits a half inch star box, it will fit the star chart without triming. If it fits a 1.5 inch round box, it will fit the weekly charts on the sticker chart page.

Print your chart at 100 percent, not fit to page. That keeps the boxes at the exact size they were designed for, so the stickers line up every time.

Gold stars

Gold foil stars are the classic for a reason. They catch the light, they peel off the sheet easily, and they still feel special to a 9 year old who has seen every app and screen.

A pack gives you hundreds of stars, so you will not run out midweek. The sticker is the reward, not the chore. The child sees the star go on the box, and that moment is the payoff.

For a child who is new to charts, start with a small goal and one star per day. For an older child, let them put the star on themselves. That small act makes the win theirs.

Smiley, animal and word stickers

Smiley stickers work best for daily check-ins and for kids under 5. A simple face says done, tried, or good day without needing words.

Animal stickers are for the child who wants a different one every day. A lion on Monday, a frog on Tuesday, a bear on Wednesday. The variety keeps the chart fresh for a full week.

Praise word stickers, like Great Job or Nice Work, suit kids from kindergarten up. They read the word and connect it to the behavior. For potty training, use the small half inch size so the stickers fit the smaller boxes on the potty chart.

Scratch and sniff and other special stickers

A scratch and sniff sticker is a reward by itself. The child does a task, gets the sticker, and then gets the scent. That double payoff makes it perfect for the hardest goal on the chart.

Save these for one or two boxes, not the whole week. If every box smells like grape, the novelty fades fast. Use them for the chore your child resists most, like brushing teeth or putting away toys.
